Early Labour?

May 7, 2013

Okay so here I am sitting in what I believe to be early labour. I’m 41 weeks exactly according to the doctor’s and their bullshit estimated due date and 40 weeks exactly from the day I know I conceived. I was scheduled for an induction yesterday but the doctor on call made the wise decision to let me wait it out a bit. I was only 6 days past my due date and there was no need yet to force her out since  we were both doing well.

Even though I knew she probably wasn’t ready, I sobbed all day and all night like a little kid. I was just so anxious to meet her that I felt like the wind had been taken out of my sails.

I told God I needed some sort of signal to say that this was going to happen on her terms because as of yesterday I wasn’t dilated, my cervix was thick and she was showing no signs of leaving her comfy home.

I had a throbbing headache last night so Nig gave me a massage and I knocked out somewhere around 1 am.

I woke up at approx.. 8 a.m. having the urge to pee really bad. I went to the washroom and came to lay down. Maybe 10 or so minutes later I felt my first ‘cramp’ I’m calling it a cramp because when you’re a first time mom you have no idea if what you’re feeling is in your imagination or if it’s actually a contraction. It’s bullshit when people tell you you’ll just know… Um no, you’ll know eventually when they get longer, stronger and closer together but for the first few it feels like a really bad period cramp. I really believe pain is relative so it’s hard to say how one is going to feel.

From about 8:30 – 11:00 the contractions have been fairly steady… they’re ranging from 5-9 minutes apart at this point. I lost another mucus plug and I’m pretty sure I had my bloody show as well.

I don’t know at what point I should head to the hospital but I’m going to try and wait it out as long as possible especially since I’m slated to go back for another ‘induction chat’ tomorrow morning.

In the meantime, I think I am going to grab a burrito or something from the little Mexican chain by my house and call it a meal.

I am so excited to meet my daughter, I can hardly even believe I may actually be in early labour.

So the husband and I went for Mexican at the little place near our house. I cramped throughout the entire meal but we ate outside and I enjoyed every bite. We’re at home now and I’m still having those period type cramps… they’re getting stronger and definitely bouncing between 3-5 minutes apart. We’ve decided that if they continue we are going to go to the hospital at about 3:00 p.m. just to see what’s up…

I hope this is it!
