Week 11

I am so close to my second trimester I can taste it.

I am beyond excited. Every day that passes makes me more and more eager to meet my little one. It’s a complete 180 from the shock and anxiousness I felt when I first found out.

How Big is the Baby?

This week, the baby is as big as a LIME! Every app says something different but all of the fruits they’ve described are relatively the same size.

“Your baby is now fully formed, from tooth buds to toenails and measures about the length of your thumb. Her fingers and toes have separated and some of her bones are beginning to harden. Over the next six months your baby’s main task will be to grow larger and stronger, fit for survival outside the womb.”

I can’t believe my little boomba (that’s what I’ve named him/her for now) is already fully formed. From here on out it’s just a matter of growing bigger and stronger but everything is in place and ready to go! GO BABY GO!

Body Changes

It’s funny that this week I’ve felt smaller than I have in the past few weeks. I think because of the decrease in appetite and the return to 3 normal meals a day, my body is settling back into normal life. I still don’t fit into anything but I’ve started buying some new clothes. I came to the realization quickly that maternity clothing is expensive and I can easily go to Walmart and pick up a $15 sweater that will last me until I can shrink this body back down.

My boobs are still pretty large but they don’t hurt as much or feel as heavy. I think that I’m just getting used to it.

I have certainly put on way more weight than I should have during the first trimester. The first 6-7 weeks were terrible in terms of what I wanted to eat.

AND I FOUND MY FIRST GREY HAIR! Welcome to Mommyhood!

Emotionally

Doing much better but I’m very easily agitated and irritated. I don’t like being touched or held and I HATE having my stomach rubbed which is something my lovely fiancee loves to do. I know he means well and he’s super excited about the little muffin but seriously I want to cut off his hands when he rubs my tummy for an extended period of time. I hope this passes.

Physically

I was definitely starting to feel better in terms of nausea and exhaustion BUT then last night I got a huge kick in the pants and am now feeling super sick! I spent the entire night in and out of the bathroom… it was not pretty. I curled up in bed at about 5:30 a.m. I’m hoping it’s something small and will pass. I can’t take any sick days right now and my students have presentations tomorrow so I have to go in.

What I’m Eating

This afternoon (when I finally re-woke) I had a 6″ steak and cheese sub from Subway and a little bit of chicken soup. I have also been trying to increase my vitamin-C intake with some V8 Mango Smoothie and an orange. I also had some whole wheat saltine crackers and lots of water.

I don’t know if I’ve settled into anything normal yet. I still absolutely love fast food but I am trying to decrease the amount that I eat it.

I also love seafood still. Friday we went to Mandarin (Chinese buffet) for dinner and I had cooked sushi and lots of fish. I only have fish once a week if that so when I can have good fish, I eat a little bit more. I’m sure my mercury levels are fine.

Food Aversions: Raw spinach… My mother-in-law has been making spinach salads every Sunday for Sunday Dinner and I can’t stomach it.

Random Cravings: Fruit Loops! haha I just bought a little variety back but I’m very excited for my petit bowl of cereal.

Because I’m still under the weather today, dinner is some tomato soup and a grilled cheese. Comfort food at its finest.

Exercise

None except the running to and from my portable at school to go to the washroom or deal with crisis situations. This Friday I am going to try and sign up for prenatal yoga

What Else?

Well we’re in the process of buying a house. That’s a whole ‘nother thing… I’m not going to say too much until I figure out what’s going on.
